BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 15. Production of electricity from renewable energy sources, including hydropower plants, exceeded 2.032 billion kWh from January through June 2024, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said on X, Trend reports.
The publication reported that 1.581 billion kWh were generated by hydroelectric power plants, 29.7 million kWh by wind power plants, 286.6 million kWh by solar energy stations, and 135 million kWh by the Solid Household Waste Plant during the reporting period.
To note, the renewable energy sector's share in Azerbaijan's total electricity production for the reporting period reached 15 percent.
Overall, electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 13.557 billion kWh in 2024. During this period, electricity exports from Azerbaijan totaled 444 million kWh, while imports amounted to 96.4 million kWh.
