Azerbaijan, Baku, August 22 / Trend G. Veliyev /

Demand for satellite systems will form about 1,700 Mbit / s for the next 15 years, the Communication and IT Ministry said.

The ministry said that at present, capacity of used satellite systems in Azerbaijan hits 120 Mbit / s. Their significant part is used in VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) but the rest part is used for the needs of TV and radio channels. Part of the international and long-distance communication is carried out via satellite channels that are integral part of TV and radio channels.

The implementation of the project to launch a national satellite Azerspace will allow introducing new technologies in space systems of telecommunication and communication, including the access to the Internet, as well as provide informational independence and form single information sphere.

At present, Azerbaijan annually spends millions of dollars to rent transponders of foreign satellites for communication and broadcasting. Launching of a national satellite will solve the problem. Payback of the satellite will cover 5 years. About 163 million manat is planned to spent for its creation. The satellite will bring the signal to any place in the European and Asian continents.

The future plans of the ministry include expansion of satellite stations for the development of DVB-S standard (Digital Video Broadcasting - Satellite), which is a fast, reliable and economical way to deliver TV signal of high quality to any part of the vast space under the state program on development of space industry.
