Azerbaijan considers the possibility of selling computers of local producers in Cuba, Rufat Taghizade, the Communications and Information Technologies Ministry's International Relations Department Deputy Chairman told Trend.

He said possibilities of cooperation have been discussed in an agreement on cooperation in information and communication technologies signed on Friday.

The document was signed by the Minister of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan Ali Abbasov and of Information and Communications of Cuba, Ramiro Valdes Menendez.

According to Tagizade, the document is of generic character and intended to be a fundamental, defining opportunities for further cooperation in specific projects. The agreement should also contribute to mutual assistance in terms of positioning of the Azerbaijani high-tech products in the Cuban market.

"For this purpose, the Azerbaijani companies (AZEL, KUR, and Ultra) handed over about 30 laptop and desktop computers to the Cuban Government to use in the lecture rooms of higher and secondary educational institutions. The main goal is the preliminary acquaintance with the Cuban market for further sale of production in this country. Time will show further how mutual cooperation will develop. The main point is not immediately entering the Cuban market, but the possibility of the Azerbaijani companies' participation in the computerization of the education system of this country, if they implemente any specific projects," Taghizade said.
