Azerbaijan’s BrailleX startup company has prepared a plan to develop the second Braille Watch prototype for people with visual impairments, Sayad Ibrahimov, head of the company, told Trend.

“This prototype will be fully functional,” he said. “It will integrate such functions as notification of obstructions along the way that will allow the blind to get rid of the walking stick, the GPS SOS function, which will allow the owner of the watch to seek help from relatives in case of emergency situations, by telling them about location.”

"Moreover, the device can be charged via wireless charging,” Ibrahimov said. “The gadget will keep charging longer, while the form factor will be even more convenient. As for the investments in the project, we received a number of proposals from foreign companies. However, no agreements have been reached yet.”

“The issue is that the companies willing to invest the project want to get a quick return, which is not the right requirement for the startup project,” he said. “After we attract investments, the production will start a year later, which is stipulated by the time to be spent for the preparation of a full version of the device.”
