Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 12

By Huseyn Veliyev - Trend:

The National Aviation Academy of Azerbaijan has frozen the project for the development of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) entitled Flying Wing, the Academy told Trend Sept. 11.

The reasons for this decision have yet to be disclosed.

The project initiated by the Academy was a technical proposal. The prototype of the device was demonstrated to the public for the first time at the end of 2016. The UAV was made in the form of a boomerang without a fuselage, with a wingspan of 1.12 meters.

The "Flying Wing" was controlled via remote control board using virtual VR-BOX helmet. It was also possible to program the flight route of the device to the designated point and back.

The tests of the device showed that the drone is able to carry a payload of up to one kilogram. The duration of its flight was 10 - 20 minutes, depending on weather conditions.

The most important component of the drone is the security of the transmitted radio signal, which is important, since it protects the UAV from interception of the radio signal, thereby preventing it from being destroyed, from interception of control, or transmission of false data.

As previously reported, this device could be used for tracking the traffic and traffic jams, for aerial photography in the mountains, for analysis of the composition of the air along the laid gas pipelines in order to detect gas leaks, etc.
