By Huseyn Valiyev - Trend:

Azerbaijan’s state telecom operators create artificial obstacles to the development of business of private internet service providers (ISPs), the company Smart Systems Technology told Trend Jan. 31.

The difficulties are observed in the service area of state operators both in Baku and in the Azerbaijani districts, according to the company.

“Unfortunately, the monopoly in this sphere hasn’t been eliminated yet,” the company said. “In most cases, we don’t get a reply to our written appeals in time, and in some cases, private business faces artificial obstacles.”

The stagnation in the market is primarily associated with infrastructure changes that required additional time to study the market and make inventory of the optical infrastructure. In this regard, when obtaining the appropriate permits, providers face the problem of the lack of a prompt response to their requests.

Unfortunately, the question of using resources of cable and sewage facilities by private business remains open.

“We constantly hear that acceptable conditions are being created for using these resources, but in reality everything is the other way around,” the company said. “We are told that the resources are full and laying additional cables is impossible. All this, of course, negatively affects the activities of ISPs.”
