Uzbekistan interested in introducing Estonian experience in digitalization of public services

Uzbekistan is interested in attracting Estonian experience of digitalization of public services in the system of justice and education in the Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing Dunyo agency.

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Estonia Kadambay Sultanov held a meeting with the Executive Director of the Electronic Government Academy (eGA) Arvo Ott, during which they discussed the prospects for Uzbek-Estonian cooperation and exchange of practical experience on the widespread introduction of digital technologies.

eGA, as a non-governmental organization, specializes in promoting the best Estonian practices in the field of e-government, e-democracy, and national cybersecurity.

Referring to the advanced achievements of Estonia, Ott emphasized that 100 percent of schools and local authorities in the country have computers, 99 percent of banking operations are carried out electronically, 98 percent of medical prescriptions are issued online, 98 percent of the population have ID cards.

In addition, 95 percent of all tax returns to Estonia are filed electronically, 88 percent of the population regularly use the Internet, 67 percent of the population participated in the census via the Internet, 43.8 percent of the votes in the last parliamentary elections of 2019 were submitted online.

Arvo Ott expressed his readiness for close mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan and supported the proposal to organize video conferencing with the specialized structures of Uzbekistan responsible for digital transformation issues.
