The VISA International Payment Corporation is open for cooperation with Azerbaijan in the field of digital banks, Vice President and Regional Manager of VISA in Central Asia and Azerbaijan Kristina Dorosh told Trend on Dec. 7.

According to Dorosh, VISA is very active with its partners in the field of financial technology, including with start-up projects.

"For example, in our region, VISA has supported and continues to promote the development of digital banks in Georgia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan. Any startup and fintech institution can become our partner, and we are open to cooperation with any player in this area," she said.

She noted that an important direction of VISA's work in Azerbaijan is cooperation with payment systems.

"We are very active with GoldenPay (hesab.az), E-Pul. They are actively developing their e-commerce platforms. In the future, we plan to launch many marketing campaigns that will stimulate VISA cardholders to use their funds on these platforms with obtaining certain benefits. In addition, payment systems are not limited to the development of e-commerce; QR payments are also developing. Payment can be in any forms, and they are based on convenient, secure VISA technologies," Dorosh said.

The vice president added that VISA has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Azericard (the largest processing center in Azerbaijan), the details of which will become known later.

"Another striking example of our partnership is cooperation with digital Birbank, which is part of Kapital Bank, as well as partnership with Leobank (digital Unibank). VISA supports all participants and financial institutions of Azerbaijan in the development of digital banks," Dorosh said.
