Turkey intends to achieve record indicators in the tourism sphere in 2018, the country’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism told Trend Feb. 1.
The ministry said that the number of Russian tourists visiting Turkey increased by 14.56 percent in 2017 as compared to 2016.
Meanwhile, the number of German tourists visiting Turkey rose by 11.06 percent in 2017 as compared to 2016, according to the ministry.
The ministry said that the number of Iranian tourists that visited Turkey also increased by 7.72 percent in 2017.
In 2017, 4.7 million tourists came to Turkey from Russia, 3.5 million tourists – from Germany and 2.5 million tourists – from Iran.
Turkey’s revenues from tourism rose by 18.9 percent and totaled $26.283 billion in 2017 as compared to 2016.
