Largest share of visits to Georgia comes on Azerbaijani citizens

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 14

The biggest share of visits to Georgia in 3Q2019 accounted for Azerbaijan (19.9 percent), Trend reports via the Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The figure has increased by 10.6 percent, compared to the third quarter of 2018.

The number of visits by international visitors (non-resident travelers of age 15 or older, who visited Georgia from their area of residence) reached 2.8 million in the mentioned period, which is 3.9 percent higher compared to the same period of 2018.

In the third quarter of 2019 the number of international visitors equaled 2.2 million that is 1 percent higher compared to the previous year.

In total, 45.2 percent of visitors (travelers aged 15 or above, non-resident of Georgia, took a trip outside his/her usual environment to Georgia for less than a year) to Georgia belonged to the age group of 31-50 years in the third quarter of 2019.

The number of women equaled to 43.8 percent of the total number of visitors.

In third quarter of 2019, the purpose of the majority of visits (52.8 percent) was holiday, leisure and recreation.

The majority of visits fell on Tbilisi and Adjara, 1.3 million and 1.1 million accordingly.

Some 69.4 percent of visits were repeating visits.
