Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Japan on an official visit on the morning of December 18 and met with the governor of Aichi prefecture Hideaki Omura, Trend reports citing the press service of the head of state.
The parties discussed the possibility of expanding cooperation and promoting specific projects in the field of innovation, industry, agriculture and tourism.
"An agreement has been reached on the organization of mutual visits and the study of the opening of air links with Aichi," the press service said.
The Tashkent region has been identified as a partner for the prefecture from the Uzbek side.
Mirziyoyev flew to Nagoya on December 17. On December 18, the president will also meet with Mayor of the city Takashi Kawamura. A visit to Nagoya University is planned.
In addition, negotiations will be held with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance of Japan Taro Aso, members of the Parliamentary Friendship League "Uzbekistan -Japan" and representatives of leading Japanese companies and banks.
