ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, Dec. 19
By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:
The 600-kilometer Ashgabat-Turkmenabat high-speed road is being constructed in Turkmenistan, Trend reports referring to the Turkmen Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
Turkmen Autobahn joint stock company is the general contractor. "Nusayyollary", "Hyzmat merkezi", "Edermen" and "Altyn nesil" local private enterprises have been tasked with construction.
In accordance with the project, the high-speed road is designed to accelerate and increase the cargo volume which is transported through Turkmenistan.
Great prospects in this regard are opening up in the field of transport interaction with neighbouring Uzbekistan.
The project is planned to be implemented in three stages. The first section - Ashgabat-Tejen is planned to be commissioned in December 2020, the second section - Tejen-Mary in December 2022 and the third section - Mary-Turkmenabat section in December 2023.
The project is being realized through a state loan worth $2.3 billion.
Due to its intersection with the Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi highway, the highway connecting the eastern regions of the country with its center will give direct access to cargo flows to the international seaport in the Caspian Sea and then via maritime roads to the Caucasus, heading to Europe, southern Russia, northern Iran, the Persian Gulf, and the Gulf of Oman.
The construction of the 600-kilometer high-speed road along this route was launched in January.
