Azerbaijan plans to build a new bridge on the border with Iran in 2020, Anar Najafli, the spokesperson of the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads, told Trend.
The new bridge will connect the highways of Iran and Azerbaijan that reach the border, the spokesperson noted.
"It is planned to build a new bypass road going to the border with Iran, skirting Azerbaijan's Astara town in 2020," Najafli said.
A new road to the town of Astara was commissioned in 2018.
Earlier it was reported that the laying of the highway between Iran's and Azerbaijan's Astara, towns of the same name, on both sides of the state border between the two countries began.
