Flights from Kazakhstan’s Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Taldykorgan cities to the Alakol lake in country’s Usharal city will be launched this year, Trend reports with reference to the Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development.

The ministry said that the flights will be launched following the lifting of the emergency state in the country.

On March 15, 2020, Kazakhstan’s President Kassym Jomart Tokayev signed a decree introducing an emergency state in Kazakhstan due to the coronavirus outbreak, which came in force on March 16 and was to last till April 15, 2020.

However later, by a decree of Kazakhstan's president, the emergency state period in Kazakhstan was extended till May 1, 2020 and then till May 11, 2020.

The flights from Nur-Sultan will be carried out by Qazaq Air company. The flights will be implemented four times a week over the period from May till October 2020.

The flights from Almaty city will be carried out by Southern Sky company. The company will be carrying out 6 times a week over the period from May till October 2020.

The flights from Taldykorgan city will be carried out every day. The flights will be carried out from July 1 till August 31 two times a day.

The ministry reminded that the reconstruction of the runway in Usharal city airport is planned from this year within the framework of the Nurly Zhol Infrastructure Development State program. The feasibility study development has been developed already, which says that the total project cost will be 7.5 billion tenge ($17.6 million).

Alakol lake is located 347 meters above the sea level in the Almaty and Shyghyz provinces of Kazakhstan. It is a favorite vacation spot of Kazakhs; however, due to the undeveloped infrastructure of the place local tourism hasn’t reached its full potential.
