Uzbekistan Railways expands export relations with Kazakhstan

Uzbekistan Railways has signed several major agreements with Russia and Kazakhstan, Trend reports citing Uzbekistan Railways.

In particular, Uzvagontamir company (part of Uzbekistan Railways) signed a an export contract with its Kazakh colleagues for 2020 for a total of $372,200.

In 2020, the Foundry-Mechanical Plant of Uzbekistan Railways signed contracts with companies from Russia and Kazakhstan worth over $5.4 million.

"In addition to the range of covered wagons, gondola wagons and hopper wagons for the transportation of cement and mineral fertilizers, the Foundry and Mechanical Plant of Uzbekistan Railways is mastering the production of long base platforms for the transportation of large containers. However, the greatest demand in the market is for repair work. The enterprise has established repair of almost all types of cars existing in the CIS countries," the message said.

Moreover, Uzbekistan Railways is working on implementation of an export contract with a Kazakh enterprise for overhaul of wagon cisterns for nearly $600,000 signed in 2018. Final negotiations on the $1 million export agreement with another enterprise of Kazakhstan are underway, the message said.

Also, Uzbekistan is in talks with Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan on the export of new gondola cars, and with the Turkmen Railway Ministry on the overhaul of freight wagons.

In order to develop export services in 2020, YolRefTrans (deals with transportation of perishable products) has signed a contract with Kazakhstan to repair 400 freight wagons, and export contracts with Russian companies are expected as well.
