By Ilkin Seyfaddini - Trend:

New car manufacturing plant will be launched in the Navoi Free Economic Zone, with a production capacity of 30,000 cars per year, Trend reports with reference to Uzbekistan National News Agency.

An Uzbek-Iranian joint venture, Navoi Motors, will soon be built in the free economic zone.

"It is expected that this project worth $12 million will fundamentally change the entire automotive industry in Uzbekistan. It is planned to assemble cars produced in China under 'Oshan' brand in Navoi and sell them domestically," the report says.

The enterprise will create more than 200 new jobs.

"At the moment intensive work on construction of this enterprise are conducted. Work continues 24/7, in compliance with quarantine requirements," the report says.

Thus, the number of enterprises in the Navoi Free Economic Zone is expected to increase soon.

"As of today more than 25 projects of about 30 enterprises operating in cooperation with South Korea, China, India, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Italy and Great Britain are being established in Navoi Free Economic Zone," the report says.

In the future it is planned to bring the number of such projects to 78.

Navoi Free Economic Zone (the first in Uzbekistan) was established in 2008. Today, about 30 enterprises with foreign investors work in the region, and their number is growing every year.
