The value of maritime cargo export from Azerbaijan increased by 12.4 percent and amounted to $141,180 tons from January through May 2020, Trend reports referring to the country’s State Customs Committee on June 18.
During the reporting period, the volume of cargo exported by sea made up $43.6 million (down by 45.3 percent compared to the same period in 2019.
Azerbaijan transported cargo worth $227.4 million in the mentioned period, which is 28.7 percent less year on year.
During the first 5 months of 2020, 405,112 tons of cargo were transported by sea, which is almost 11.3 percent less than from January through May last year.
Moreover, 263,900 tons of cargo worth $183.7 million (down 25 percent) were imported by sea.
In the reporting period, Azerbaijan’s trade turnover with five major trading partners amounted to $6.6 billion, or 59.5 percent of the country's total trade turnover.
Azerbaijan’s foreign trade operations with leading countries made up $2.8 billion, which is 0.9 percent more than the same period last year ($ 2.7 billion).
