New railway vehicles put into operation in Iran

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 24

A total of 70 railway vehicles worth 2.23 trillion rials (about $53 million) were put into operation in Iran today (November 24), Deputy Minister for Roads and Urban Development and the CEO of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAI) Saeed Rasouli said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

He made the remark in an event dedicated to the launch of the railway vehicles.

Rasouli stressed that of the railway vehicles, 68 are passenger and freight wagons, and one is locomotive manufactured first time. The CEO also said that the first ‘Pars 33’ locomotive manufactured by Iran's Wagon Pars Company was put into operation.

“In addition, one locomotive was re-launched again after repaired,” he added.

The deputy minister noted that in total, 521 various railway vehicles worth 11.6 trillion rials (about $275 million) were put into operation in Iran in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, to March 21, 2021).

Rasouli emphasized that at the same time, the company has received orders for the manufacturing of 10 more locomotives.
