Several provinces of Iran to be connected to Iranian railway network

The connection of Iran's Ardabil, Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari, and Kurdistan provinces to the Iranian railway network is possible at the expense of funds, that are planned to be provided based on the Iranian budget project for next Iranian year (from March 21, 2021 to March 21, 2022), Deputy Director of Iran’s Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructures Company (CDTIC) Abbas Khatibi said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

Khatibi said that these railways will boost Iran's transit opportunities.

"In addition, the construction of the Shalamcheh-Basra (Iran-Iraq), Mianeh-Bostanabad-Tabriz, Chabahar-Zahedan railway lines is underway," he added.

The deputy director noted that after the connection of the Iran’s railway lines to Afghan railways, a financial program for connection of Iran's railways to other neighboring countries is planned in budget project for next Iranian year.

According to him, the allocation of 23 trillion rials (about $548 million) for the railway sector is planned in budget project for next Iranian year.

Khatibi stressed that according to the plan, the most railway lines construction will be completed in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 to March 21, 2021).

The value of Iran's Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructures Company's budget for next Iranian year amounts to 78 trillion rials (about $1.86 billion).
