BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 4. Transit of goods through Iran’s Bilasuvar border checkpoint in the Ardabil Province (north-western Iran) increased by 33 percent, during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through June 21, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of the Road and Transport Department of Iran’s Ardabil Province, Kalimollah Vosughi told reporters, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

Vosughi noted that a total of 400,000 tons of goods were transited through the mentioned border checkpoint in 3 months.

“In addition, 20,000 passengers crossed through the Bilasuvar border checkpoint within 3 months,” he added.

The director general also pointed out that 400 trucks cross through the border checkpoint daily.

“In the direction of increasing the economic development of Ardabil Province, it is of particular importance to pay attention to the increase of trips to the province. In this regard, the main priority should be the facilitation of travel through the border crossing point,” Vosughi said.
