BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 2. A total of 2.4 million tons of cargo were transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway route since it first was commissioned, Trend reports via Turkish media outlets.
According to Turkish sources, with BTK working, cargo departing from London, can reach Beijing.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway played a particularly important role in cargo transportation, uninterrupted rail transportation was carried out at a time when there were problems when crossing the border by land transport.
Cargo transportation by the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway amounted to 691,000 tons until 2022.
The first Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line was commissioned in 2017. Today, the length of this route is 850 kilometers.
