Azerbaijan's ASCO overhauls its Atlet-8 crane vessel

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 30. Baku's Bibi-Heybat shipyard has completed overhaul works on the crane vessel Atlet-8 of the Caspian Offshore Oil Fleet of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company CJSC (ASCO), Trend reports via ASCO.

Following the completion of the work, the crane unit with a lifting capacity of 40 tons was tested, sea trials were held, and upon their completion, the “Atlet-8” passed the Classification Register.

“The overhaul affected the 40-ton crane, main and auxiliary engines, pumps, and piping systems. Radio broadcasting and navigation equipment were also repaired, and new sets of the fixed radio station, radar set, and ship's earth station were installed,” the information notes.

The crane ship “Atlet-8” was built in 1986 at the shipyard in Gdańsk (Poland).

The vessel's draft is 2.33 m, its deadweight - 456 tons, its crew - 20 people, and its speed - 11.24 knots.

Azerbaijan has a high demand for crane vessels due to the growth of cargo transportation and other types of work.

To note, Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company CJSC (ASCO) was established in October 2013.

ASCO, along with the transport fleet, includes a specialized fleet and ship repair plants.

The transport fleet consists of 54 vessels, and the specialized fleet includes 192 vessels.
