ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 14. During the eighth session of the seventh convocation of the Majlis (Parliament) of Turkmenistan, lawmakers rolled up their sleeves and gave the green light to a batch of laws designed to push the country’s socio-economic development forward, Trend reports.

The newly enacted laws were designed in accordance with the priority areas of state policy under the leadership of President Serdar Berdymukhammedov and went through the wringer with a fine-tooth comb by the necessary committees, ministries, and agencies.

Among the key decisions was the approval of an updated version of the Law of Turkmenistan “On the Court,” which modernizes the country’s legal framework for the judiciary.

The parliament also ratified Turkmenistan’s accession to the 1988 Protocol to the International Convention on the Cargo Mark, reinforcing the country’s commitment to improving maritime safety standards.

Legislative changes also extended to the transportation sector, with an updated “Road Transport Law” that focuses on enhancing transport safety and clarifying the responsibilities of regulatory bodies, including the Cabinet of Ministers and the “Türkmenawtoulaglary” agency.

At the conclusion of the session, the Ombudsman for Human Rights, Yazguly Gurbannazarov, delivered the annual report on the accomplishments achieved over the past year.
