Kazakhstan plans to introduce the European standards of recycling water supply.

This intention was announced at the Seventh "Environment for Europe" Ministerial Conference in Astana today.

"This year we plan to submit a law on recycling water supply in Kazakhstan to the Majilis [Lower Chamber of the Kazakh Parliament]," Kazakh Minister of Environmental Protection Nurgali Ashim told journalists.

The draft law is based on the principles of the European Water Framework Directive, he said mentioning some difficulties on this way, but not going into details.

Kazakhstan is the first post-Soviet country planning to implement the European standards of recycling water supply.

The seventh conference "Environment for Europe" is taking place on Sept. 21-23. The main topics include water and eco-systems management, as well as promoting green energies.
