Kazakh President signs law ‘On military service and status of servicemen”

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the law "On Military Service and Status of Servicemen" aimed at regulating relations when doing military service, as well as determining the principles of social security of servicemen, the presidential press service said on Thursday.

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the law "On Military Service and Status of Servicemen" aimed at regulating relations when doing military service, as well as determining the principles of social security of servicemen, the presidential press service said on Thursday.

The bill aims to improve existing legislation and the elimination of legal gaps in the military service and status of servicemen, provision of guarantees of their social and legal protection.

The document defined the status of serviceman, his rights and duties taking into consideration restrictions and responsibility depending on the nature of the service and envisages a new system of providing servicemen with housing during the period of military service by providing them a service housing by the state or reimbursement for rental of residence.

In addition, Mr Nazarbayev signed a law "On introduction of amendments and supplements to some legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on issues of defense and military service" aimed at adjusting some of the laws into accordance with the law "On military service and status of servicemen".
