Kazakhstan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have developed a new partnership strategy for the next five years, director of the ADB office in Kazakhstan Guanghui Li said at a briefing in Astana today.

"Kazakhstan is on the way to go beyond the status of a country with an income above average," he said. "A new strategy is to maintain Kazakhstan's economic and social progress."

Kazakh Economic Development Ministry official Kuat Tumabaev said that the strategy was developed given the key area of the strategic development plan of Kazakhstan till 2020.

He added that the great attention will be paid to investments in the development of infrastructure projects.

"The strategy emphasizes that over time the private sector must be the main driving force for growth," Tumabaev said.
