It is planned to open 19 more border posts in Kazakhstan by the end of this year, the Border Service of the Kazakh National Security Committee said today.

It is planned to open 19 more border posts in Kazakhstan by the end of this year, the Border Service of the Kazakh National Security Committee said today.

'The Border Service plans to open 19 more facilities in the southern and northern parts of the Kazakh state border by late 2012', the press release said. 'The construction of 10 border posts was launched in 2012 to complete them in 2013. Around four border posts in Zhambyl region, four in Almaty and two in South Kazakhstan are among them'.

According to the border service, a new complex of buildings at the Zhasorken border post of the Taraz border detachment was put into operation in south Kazakhstan.

'A complex of buildings of the renovated border post consists of not only officials, but accommodation', the message said. 'There are barracks, apartments and dormitories. Moreover, there are classrooms, a dining room, facilities for technical equipment for border protection and a boiler room'.

The construction of the border post was launched in December 2011 as part of strengthening the protection of the external borders of the Customs Union.
