The Kazakh party Ak Zhol proposed to check all Kazakh citizens' accounts in foreign banks, the press service of the Majilis (lower chamber of parliament) of Kazakhstan reported on Wednesday.

Member of Kazakh Parliament Azat Peruashev addressed the Kazakh Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov, Attorney-General Askhat Daulbaev and Chairman of the National Bank Grigory Marchenko with this proposal.

"As it is known, many Western countries have obtained disclosure of information on bank account holders for tax purposes from foreign banks, including from Swiss bankers who are well-known for their obstinacy," Peruashev said.

This process will be applied evenly across the country and increase tax revenue in a civilized manner, he added.

" MPs of the Ak Zhol party suggested that the Government, Attorney General's Office and the National Bank address banking organizations and bodies that supervise offshore areas, as well as countries such as the UK, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Austria, France, Luxembourg , Liechtenstein, Belgium, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Singapore, the UAE, the USA and others, in regards to the personal accounts of Kazakh citizens', as well as the accounts of members of the Kazakh government and leaders of state-owned enterprises," Peruashev said.

According to the MP, in case if the supervisors fail to achieve obtaining the necessary information, the Ak Zhol parliamentary faction is ready to make a similar request to the deputies of these countries with a request to hold their separate parliamentary inquiries on this subject.
