By Daniyar Mukhtarov - Trend:

States of the Common Economic Space (CES) began to use a national system for public procurement as from Jan.1, 2014. This allows Kazakh suppliers to participate in public and municipal procurements in Russia and Belarus on an equal basis with Russian and Belarusian suppliers, Kazakh Minister of Economy and Budget Planning Timur Zhaksylykov said on Jan.10 at a meeting in Astana to discuss the draft Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union.

The volume of CES partner states' public procurement market amounted to $198 billion, while the volume of Kazakhstan's public procurement market was equal to $7.6 billion in 2012, according to the minister.

"The market of the partner states exceeds the national market volume by 26 times thus providing a potential for the development of national producers," Zhaksylykov said.

The creation of a Consultative Council for cooperation of the Eurasian Economic

Commission and the Belarusian-Kazakh-Russian business community in 2012 became an impetus for attracting business. Its task is to improve the quality by taking into account the business interests in adopting decisions within the Customs Union and CES.

An increase has been observed in trade among member states since the Customs Union began functioning.
