By Elena Kosolapova - Trend: Kazakh city of Aktau hosts the Forth International Conference "Paradigms of international cooperation in the Caspian region: military-political aspect", Novosti-Kazakhstan news agency reported.
"The Caspian region mixes different political systems of the Caspian countries. It is a junction of different civilized communities which attracts a huge number of external players' interested in world politics, and it is a conflict-prone region due to this fact", the organizers of the forum said.
Within the conference, the participants will discuss major threats and risks for the Caspian region in the short and medium term in the context of current geopolitical changes; readiness of the countries in the region to counter unconventional threats and risks; and prospects for ensuring regional security taking into consideration the multi-vector military and political priorities of the five Caspian countries.
Moreover the forum participants will assess the potential of conflict issues solution through negotiations and military cooperation between the countries of the Caspian; possible influence on the Caspian region from neighboring conflict zones (the Middle East, the Caucasus, Afghanistan, the Black Sea area, etc.) Within the forum the regional aspects of information security will be discussed as well.
