While speaking at a press-conference in the Central Communication Service under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, mayor of Kazakhstan’s Almaty city Bakytzhan Sagintayev spoke about investment projects of the current year, thanks to which 10,000 jobs will be created, Trend reports with reference to Kazinform news agency.
The external investments in Almaty from January through May amounted to $135.04 million (physical volume index - 119.3 percent), internal investments - $698.2 million (physical volume index - 135.7 percent).
A pool of 201 investment projects worth 4.5 trillion tenge ($10.5 billion) was formed and 35,400 jobs are envisaged to be created in 2021-2024.
Some 84 investment projects with a total project cost of $737.4 million are planned to be commissioned in the following spheres in 2021:
- real estate - 32 projects worth 176.7 billion tenge ($414.3 million);
- industry - 17 projects worth 41.5 billion tenge ($97.3 million);
- trade and services - 19 projects worth 38.7 billion tenge ($90.7 million);
- social projects - 16 projects worth 57.6 billion tenge ($135.04 million).
Among them are anchor projects:
- construction of a new terminal of the international airport (in the amount $199.3 million). After its construction, the passenger traffic will increase by six million people per year, the throughput capacity – by 2.5 times (total area 50,000 sq. m);
- construction of the National Scientific Center for Infectious Diseases (for 350 places) in Alatau region upon the instructions of the first president of Kazakhstan at the expense of "Samruk-Kazyna" JSC;
- opening of a branch of the De Montfort University Kazakhstan in September. The volume of investments during five years will reach $50 million;
- implementation of Nazarbayev University projects "School of Artificial Intelligence" and "Laboratory for ICT Research" for training 2,000 students in Alatau Park of Innovative Technologies free economic zone.
Moreover, the issue of building an international clinic (300 beds) by involving Korean partners is being considered.
