Kazakh government intends to restore inflation rate to previous level

The government of the Republic of Kazakhstan intends to restore the inflation rate at 4-6 percent, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov said at the ninth Extraordinary Congress of the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Trend reports with reference to Atameken.

“An important condition, both for increasing the income of the population and for a successful business, is to reduce the inflation rate,” Smailov said. “As you know, very high inflation rates are observed in almost all countries amid disruption in supply chains during the global COVID-19 pandemic. So, it reached seven percent in the US in 2021, which became its highest rate during the last 30 years.”

The prime minister stressed that the inflation rate in Russia for the first time in many years exceeded Kazakhstan's inflation rate and amounted to 8.5 percent while in Uzbekistan – 10 percent.

“In this regard, the government, together with the National Bank and Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, is taking some measures to control and reduce the inflation rate to stabilize the prices,” the prime minister said.

The prime minister added that the complex consists of operational and systemic measures aimed at increasing the production volumes, storage and logistics, retail trade, antimonopoly and foreign trade regulation.

“The task was set to restore inflation rate at 4-6 percent,” Smailov said.

A special program is being developed by the government to increase the income of the population.

Chairman of the board of Atameken chamber Ablay Myrzakhmetov announced during the congress of the chamber that the board was resigning.
