Inflation in Kazakhstan is of foreign origin - President Tokayev

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 4. Kazakhstan remains committed to the open economy principle, by maintaining trade relations with 180 countries of the world, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at the meeting with the heads of foreign diplomatic missions, Trend reports citing the press service of the President.

"Despite economic tremors taking place across the globe, Kazakhstan's commodity exports increased almost by 40 percent. The country intends to further strengthen its leading position in Central Asia in the attraction of investment. Only in six months of 2022, foreign partners invested about $15 billion in Kazakhstan's economy which is 30 percent higher than in the same period of 2021. At the same time, Kazakhstan is concerned over the constant high levels of food imports from abroad which leads to high inflation. Experts admit that this is imported inflation," he said.

President Tokayev held a meeting with the heads of foreign diplomatic missions today. Welcoming the participants, the Head of the state called the meetings with the diplomatic corps a good tradition aimed at strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
