BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 19. Kazakhstan’s light industry increased output by 6 percent and amounted to 178 billion Kazakh tenge ($382.6 million), Trend reports, citing the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development of Kazakhstan.

Growth is observed in all sub-sectors of the industry, including an increase in the production of textiles by 5.3 percent, clothing by 7.8 percent, and leather and related products by 3.7 percent.

According to the ministry, 6 investment projects have been completed with an overall worth of 9.9 billion Kazakh tenge ($21.2 million). As a consequence, 560 workplaces have been created in the process.

One of the most significant projects was the expansion of the Azala Cotton factory. The production of blended yarn was launched in 2022, which opened 200 job vacancies. The company is already exporting its production to Eastern Europe, Russia, Turkey, and China. As a result of the expansion, the growth of export volumes is anticipated as well.

Previously, to assist the industry growth Kazakhstan adopted a 2022-2025 Roadmap for the promotion of light industry, which includes the development of relevant legislation, development of the raw material base and processing of raw materials, measures of state support, and staffing of the industry among others.
