BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 20. JSC NC KazMunayGas decided to conduct 2D fieldwork with a regular grid of profiles in the framework of the launch of initial exploration of the subsoil at five promising oil and gas exploration sites, KazMunayGas told Trend.
The source at KazMunayGas added that this method was picked due to the large surface area of 25,000 square kilometers to be analyzed at five exploration sites, including Berezovsky, Mugodzhary, Zharkyn, Northern Ozen, and Bolashak.
According to the company, this will be the first step that will enable KMG to make a judgment regarding the effectiveness of the adopted strategy.
Within the above-mentioned territories of subsoil geological study, some areas present obstacles to geological exploration operation, which include the presence of contract areas for exploration and production by third-party subsoil users, groundwater deposits, buffer zones of industrial enterprises, human settlements, orohydrographic objects, roads, and railways, state natural reserves, and transit zones.
KMG noted that despite the said issues, exploration work will be carried out in accordance with the national legislation.
“All planned work, however, will be carried out by us in strict accordance with the current Environmental Code and the Code on Subsoil and Subsoil Use of Kazakhstan,” KMG said
Meanwhile, “KMG Barlau” LLP, a subsidiary of KazMunayGas, was chosen as the operator of the work on the primary geological exploration of the subsoil exploration.
JSC NC KazMunayGas is the state-owned oil and gas company of Kazakhstan. It was formed by the decree of the President of Kazakhstan dated 20 February 2002 through the merger of Kazakhoil CJSC and Oil&Gas Transportation CJSC.
