BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 28. Kazakhstan is developing a project for construction of a metallurgical plant near the pewter deposit located in the Ayirtau district of the North-Kazakhstan region, Aydarbek Saparov, head of the regional municipality, said on social media, Trend reports.

Saparov noted that he already had several meetings with the heads of companies operating the pewter deposits.

According to the head of the municipality, the construction of the plant will boost the economic potential of the region, improve the living conditions of the local population. Successful implementation of the project is expected to create 1,500 employment opportunities.

Saparov said that currently the issue of financing is being discussed with the Development Bank of Kazakhstan and a decision on the matter is expected soon.

Kazakhstan is systematically modernizing industrial enterprises and infrastructure to diversify the economy and utilize the unexplored potential of this sector of the economy. Recently, Kazakhstan adopted concepts aimed to modernize and improve the efficiency of several sectors of the economy, including agriculture, the petrochemical industry, and the transport sector.

The simultaneous modernization of several fields of the economy is aimed to boost the industrial output of the country, open new possibilities for foreign investments, and modernize the economy of Kazakhstan.
