Kazakhstan targets over $7B investments in agriculture sector

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 22. Kazakhstan plans to increase the volume of investments in fixed assets of agriculture 4 times to 3.2 trillion Kazakh tenge ($7.1 billion), the country's Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeyev said, Trend reports.

He made the remark at a workshop organized by the Islamic Organization for Food Security at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

As he noted, the Ministry of Agriculture is currently engaged in systematic efforts to develop the agro-industrial sector.

"Firstly, we aim to triple labor productivity, increasing it from 3.4 million Kazakh tenge ($7,620) to 9.3 million Kazakh tenge ($20,845) per person employed in agriculture. Secondly, we target a threefold increase in agricultural product exports, from $3.5 billion to $9.9 billion," he said.

According to the minister, the overall agricultural export volume is expected to rise by 70 percent.

"We plan to quadruple investments in the agricultural sector's fixed assets, bringing it to 3.2 trillion Kazakh tenge ($7.1 billion). To achieve these goals, it is essential to expand investments in human potential and economic infrastructure," Karashukeyev said.
