ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 13. Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ - Kazakhstan Railways) transported over 124 million tons of cargo from January through June 2023, Trend reports.
As noted by KTZ, domestic transportation accounted for approximately 80 million tons, while exports amounted to 44.4 million tons.
Meanwhile, 51.6 million tons of coal were transported during this period. Furthermore, grain transportation experienced a remarkable increase of 30 percent, reaching 5.8 million tons. Grain exports surged by 35 percent, totaling 4.7 million tons. Additionally, there was a 12 percent growth in the transportation of milled products, with a volume of 1.5 million tons.
During the first half of 2023, the transportation of oil cargo increased by 3 percent compared to the previous year, totaling 9.3 million tons. Construction cargo transportation also witnessed a growth of 9 percent, amounting to 7.6 million tons, while chemical fertilizers saw a 6 percent increase, reaching 2.2 million tons.
The operational freight turnover expanded by 9 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching a net total of 134.5 billion ton-kilometers.
