ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 28. Kazakhs conducted more than 21.3 million transactions daily through digital banking in the first half of this year, Trend reports.
According to the country's National Bank, online and mobile banking have emerged as the most popular non-cash transaction methods among Kazakhstani citizens. Online transactions account for nine out of every ten non-cash transactions.
In the first half of 2023, online transactions accounted for 73.5 percent of total transactions and a sizable 85.8 percent of total transaction volume. On a daily basis, more than 21.3 million digital banking transactions were carried out, totaling more than 297.7 billion Kazakh tenge ($660.1 million).
The Kazakh market for payment cards continues to display robust growth as digital banking gains popularity among its citizens. In the first half of 2023, transactions conducted with payment cards issued by local banks amounted to 5.4 billion, totaling 73.5 trillion Kazakh tenge ($162.9 billion).
