ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 25. The net profit of the "Kazatomprom the national atomic company of Kazakhstan, amounted to over 222 billion tenge ($477.5 million) from January through June 2023, the Chairman of the Board, Yerzhan Mukanov, said, Trend reports.
According to him, the figure is 33 percent higher than in the same period last year. It increased primarily due to the growth in operating profit in the first half of 2023.
During the first six months of 2023, the production volume of "Kazatomprom" reached 10,225 tons, showing a slight growth of 2 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
Furthermore, Mukanov said that sales volumes in the first half of 2023 were 6 percent higher compared to the same period in 2022, primarily due to changes in delivery schedules planned by customers.
"The average selling price was higher compared to the same period in 2022 due to an increase in the spot price of uranium, amounting to 55,257 tenge ($118) for a kg, which is 15–16 percent higher than in the same period in 2022," he said.
Mukanov further noted that the consolidated revenue of the company reached nearly 619 billion tenge ($1.3 billion), increasing by 25 percent year-on-year. Factors contributing to the revenue growth include the rise in spot prices of uranium oxide, increased sales volume, and higher earnings from uranium and rare metal products.
"Kazatomprom" is one of the leading global companies operating in the sectors of nuclear energy and uranium mining. The company enjoys a 24 percent share in the global production of uranium and employs around 20,000 people, which makes it one of the top companies in Kazakhstan in terms of strategic importance.
