ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 25. The World Health Organization (WHO) has allocated $1.8 million for development of healthcare in Kazakhstan, said Health Minister Azhar Giniyat at the WHO European Office forum in Astana, Trend reports.
In this regard, today a cooperation agreement was signed between the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan and the WHO European Office for 2024-2025.
"These funds will be used to provide expert, methodological and technical support from the international organization," she said.
In turn, Director of the WHO European Bureau Hans Kluge commented on the proposal of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to create a coalition of countries on primary health care (PHC).
"In many countries, the situation with regard to primary health care is not as good as in Kazakhstan; they are mainly limited to investments in expensive technologies. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, we understand that countries with a high level of primary health care development have shown the best results in protecting the population," he said.
He noted that the initiative to form a coalition will be discussed at a meeting of the UN General Assembly next year.
Kluge also praised the level of digitalization in Kazakhstan’s healthcare, which helps solve issues with staff shortages in the industry.
On October 23, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at a plenary meeting of the Global Conference on Primary Health Care, proposed, with the support of the World Health Organization, to create a coalition of countries on primary health care.
