Kazakhstan unveils volume of Finnish investments in country

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 31. The volume of investments from Finland in the economy of Kazakhstan amounted to $18.3 million in 2022 and reached $8.5 million in the first half of 2023, Trend reports.

At the same time, there is a positive trend in the development of trade and economic relations. From January through August 2023, the growth in trade turnover between the countries amounted to 9.4 percent.

This was stated during a meeting between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Roman Vasilenko, and the Under-Secretary of State for International Trade of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Jarno Syrjala.

Vasilenko spoke in detail about the measures taken by Kazakhstan's government to develop the transport infrastructure of the country in order to increase the efficiency of the Middle Corridor, emphasizing the fruitful cooperation with the Finnish logistics company Nurminen Logistics.

The Deputy Minister also confirmed Kazakhstan’s interest in strengthening comprehensive cooperation with Finland and implementing joint projects, taking into account the priorities of economic development and Kazakhstan’s goals to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

In this context, the parties noted the important role of the Kazakh-Finnish Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on trade and economic cooperation, expressing confidence that the organization of the next 12th meeting of the IGC in the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2024 will give an important impetus to the expansion of cooperation in the fields of energy, agriculture, transport, and other areas of mutually beneficial partnership.
