ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 3. The gross inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) to Kazakhstan from Türkiye amounted to $210.7 million in the first half of 2023, Trend reports.
According to data from Kazakhstan's Ministry of National Economy, Turkish investors in Kazakhstan are undertaking projects in a variety of areas, including food and beverage, healthcare, tourism, furniture production, and retail commerce.
Abdi Ibrahim, YDA Holding, Yildirim Holding, Aselsan, and ULKER are among the large Turkish corporations interested in implementing investment projects in Kazakhstan.
According to the National Pool of Investment Projects, the following projects will be implemented in 2023 involving Turkish investors:
- construction of a full-cycle bean processing plant from raw
materials to packaging in the Kostanay region;
- production of rail fastening systems in the Almaty region.
Trade turnover between Türkiye and Kazakhstan in 2022 amounted to $5.1 billion. Exports to Kazakhstan amounted to $1.6 billion; imports from Kazakhstan amounted to $3.5 billion.
At the end of 2022, the gross inflow of foreign direct investment into Kazakhstan amounted to $28 billion, which is 17.7 percent more than the results of 2021 ($23.8 billion). This is a record figure over the past 10 years - in 2012, the volume of FDI reached $28.9 billion.
