ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 4. Kazakhstan plans to attract Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) investments to implement road projects, said Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev, Trend reports.
Thus, in 2024, on the republican road network it is planned to begin the projects Aktobe-Ulgaysyn-Kyzylorda (I technical category), Karaganda-Zhezkazgan (I, II categories), "Bypass of the city of Saryagash" (I category).
At the same time, the start of the Atyrau-Dossor (I cat.) and Astana-Kostanay-Russian border (I cat.) projects is planned for 2025-2026.
In addition, the start of the projects Pavlodar-Russian Border (II cat.), Semey-Russian Border (to Barnaul (II cat.), Atyrau-Uralsk (I cat.), Beyneu-Shalkar-Yrgyz (II cat.), Zhanaozen-Kendirli (II cat.), "Bypass of Shymkent" (I cat.), Almaty-Talgar-Baydibek bi (I cat.) and Almaty-Ushkonyr (I cat.) are scheduled for 2026.
As the minister noted, to ensure the full effect of developing the country’s internal and external transport and logistics potential, the identification and implementation of priority projects of local importance is also required. In this regard, based on the data provided by the akimats (executive power), the ministry has compiled a list of priority road projects by region.
The plan includes 95 sections with a total length of 4,300 km that require timely implementation. Of these, 50 affect the roads of the republican network (1,400 km), and 45 relate to local roads (2,900 km).
These projects require financing in the amount of 2.2 trillion tenge (about $4.7 billion).
"To fully implement projects and reduce the burden on the republican budget, the ministry is developing a mechanism for financing these projects by attracting EDB investments," the minister added.
