ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 6. China's trade turnover with Central Asian countries amounted to $70 billion in 2022, said Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov at the 6th China International Import Exhibition in Shanghai, Trend reports.
As he noted, 45 percent of this figure falls on the share of Kazakhstan.
"Trade volumes between the Central Asian region and China are growing rapidly. We believe that there are all the necessary conditions to maintain this dynamics and bring trade turnover to $100 billion by 2030," the PM said.
In addition, according to him, over 10 years, the total volume of trade turnover between China and countries located along the 'One Belt, One Road' reached $19.5 trillion, and the total volume of investments reached $380 billion.
As he noted, the important thing here is to increase exports by expanding the trade range. At the same time, it is also necessary to simplify administrative procedures, including through the use of digitalization processes.
Smailov noted that Kazakhstan is interested in the wider use of mutual electronic platforms and joint promotion of products throughout the Eurasian space.
"We already have successful cases. We work closely with Alibaba Group. In May of this year, the National Pavilion of Kazakhstan was launched on the JD.com platform. To optimize logistics on a mutually beneficial basis, we are ready to promote the construction of bonded warehouses in the Republic of Kazakhstan," he said.
In 2022, Kazakhstan’s trade turnover with China amounted to $24.1 billion, which is 34.1 percent more than a year earlier.
Exports from Kazakhstan increased over the year by 34.7 percent, to $13.2 billion. The share of Kazakhstan's exports to China accounted for a significant 15.6 percent of the country's total trade turnover.
Imports from China to Kazakhstan grew by 33.5 percent over the year, to $11 billion. China's share in the structure of imports of the Republic of Kazakhstan amounted to 21.9 percent.
