ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 17. Intergas Central Asia JSC (a subsidiary of the Kazakhstan's national company QazaqGaz JSC) has begun construction of the second line of the Almaty-Bayserke-Talgar gas pipeline, Trend reports.

Construction of the new line of gas pipeline is the second stage of preparing the gas infrastructure for the switch of Almaty combined heat and power plants (CHPP) to gas.

The length of the new second line of the gas pipeline is 62.4 km. It will ensure an uninterrupted supply of natural gas to consumers, CHPP-2 and CHPP-3, and will also avoid emergency situations associated with the shutdown of the existing single-line gas pipeline.

In addition, the gas pipeline can make it possible to implement a full-scale gas supply to the city of Almaty through the Talgar automatic gas distribution station, as well as to carry out major repairs on the first line of the Almaty-Bayserke-Talgar main gas pipeline without stopping the gas supply to the connected gas distribution stations.

Intergas Central Asia JSC has completed the first stage of construction of gas infrastructure for the Almaty energy complex on November 16.

The first stage involved the installation of two automatic gas distribution stations, as well as the building of a TIP-04 gas jumper pipeline between the Almaty-Bayserke-Talgar and Kazakhstan-China main gas pipelines.

As Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almassadam Satkaliyev previously stated, all three combined heat and power plants (CHPP) in Almaty are planned to be switched to gas.
