ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 6. China Railway Group Ltd and China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation are interested in implementing railway projects, reconstruction of roads and port infrastructure in Kazakhstan, Trend reports.
The companies' representatives voiced their prepositions in a meeting with Vice Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Talgat Lastayev.
Thus, China Railway Group Ltd expressed interest in participating in projects to modernize existing and build new railway lines in Kazakhstan, while China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation wants to participate in the construction of a container hub in the ports of Aktau and Kuryk.
The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan informed representatives of companies about projects of interest to them. Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue developing cooperation.
In 2022, Kazakhstan’s trade turnover with China amounted to $24.1 billion, which is 34.1 percent more than a year earlier.
Exports from Kazakhstan increased over the year by 34.7 percent, to $13.2 billion. The share of Kazakhstan's exports to China accounted for a significant 15.6 percent of the country's total trade turnover.
Imports from China to Kazakhstan grew by 33.5 percent over the year, to $11 billion. China's share in the structure of imports of the Republic of Kazakhstan amounted to 21.9 percent.
