ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 8. KazMunayGas JSC (KMG, Kazakhstan's national oil and gas company) is developing a gas strategy within which it plans to increase natural gas production to 6.7 billion cubic meters per year by 2030, Trend reports.

According to the company, this production volume does not include the largest fields: Tengiz, Karachaganak, and Kashagan.

Thus, the exploitation of three new fields (Aksay South, Eastern Urikhtau, and Rozhkovskoye) has already begun in 2023.

It is noted that in the next 3–4 years, KazMunayGas plans to begin production at the Central Urikhtau field - about 1 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

In addition, in 2027, the company intends to put into operation the Western Prorva and Kalamkas fields (gas production is expected to be 1.1 billion cubic meters per year).

The company noted that, together with international companies, a total of 12 promising geological exploration projects are being developed, as well as projects for additional exploration of existing fields.

Meanwhile, from January through November 2023, 53.8 billion cubic meters of gas were produced in Kazakhstan, which is 12 percent more than in the same period in 2022.

In addition, from January through November 2023, 26.9 billion cubic meters of commercial gas were produced. This figure is 6 percent higher than the same period last year.

Furthermore, gas production volume in 2022 totaled 53.3 billion cubic meters, or 3.1 percent over the planned volume. Commercial gas output was 27.8 billion cubic meters, or 94 percent of the planned amount.
