BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 31. Finland is interested in cooperation with Kazakhstan in the field of waste management, a source in the Embassy of Finland in Kazakhstan told Trend reports.
"One new field of cooperation could be forestry. Finland is a very forest covered country, and we have vast experience on how to economically benefit from forests in a sustainable manner. Another sector is waste management, which Finland has extensive experience on," the source said.
In addition, the source noted that the trade between Finland and Kazakhstan seems to grow steadily.
"With regard to future economic cooperation between Finland and Kazakhstan, there are multiple fields in which there are potential for cooperation, such as green technology, mining, energy, logistics and transport, education and digitalization," the source added.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan's trade turnover with Finland amounted to $192.7 million from January through November 2023. Data from the country's Bureau of National Statistics shows that the volume of trade turnover increased by 7 percent compared to the same period in 2022 ($180.2 million).
At the same time, in the structure of trade turnover, exports to Finland for the above period amounted to $2.95 million, which is 93 percent less than from January through November 2022 ($43.1 million).
In addition, imports from Finland from January through November 2023 increased by 38.5 percent and amounted to $189.8 million. For the 11 months of 2022, imports amounted to $137 million.
