ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 24. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has invested (cumulative grants, technical assistance, and lending commitments) $6.8 billion in various projects in Kazakhstan since the start of cooperation on January 19, 1994, Trend reports.

According to the ADB's data, in the field of public sector management, $2.6 billion was allocated, in the transport sector, $2.2 billion, in the finance sector, $1.2 billion, and in the energy sector, $427.5 million.

In addition, $191.5 million was allocated for agriculture, natural resources, and rural development; $38.9 million for water supply projects and other urban infrastructure services; $67.6 million for education, etc.

Thus, thanks to ADB-financed projects, 2,000 kilometers of roads were built or modernized, 65,000 people in rural areas gained access to clean water, 30,000 small and medium-sized businesses developed their businesses, CO2 emissions were reduced by 150,000 tons annually, etc.

As the ADB noted, the year 2024 marks three decades of long-term and successful partnerships between the Bank and Kazakhstan.

"Together, we have worked on improving people’s lives by modernizing critical infrastructure, creating jobs, reducing carbon dioxide emissions, improving road safety, boosting trade, and strengthening regional connectivity," ADB noted.
